Proportional Reasoning-2

Which kind is it, or neither

An auto costs ₹50 to start, plus ₹12 a km. The fare is the price of the ride. Does one test, dividing or multiplying, give the same answer every row?

1 km → ₹62. 2 km → ₹74.
Step 1 of 4
  1. 1 km → ₹62. 2 km → ₹74.
  2. Divide: 62 and 37 — different.
  3. Multiply: 62 and 148 — different.
  4. Neither test agrees.

The fare is neither direct nor inverse. A row is one pair, such as 1 km and ₹62.

Rule: In every row, divide one amount by the other. If the answers agree, it is direct. In every row, multiply the two amounts. If those agree, it is inverse. If neither list agrees, it is neither.

The fare rises as the distance grows. So it may look direct at first. But the fare fails both tests. Rising together is not the same as being direct.

Read each table. Tap the kind. Then see both tests.
