One bar stands for ₹4,500.
Step 1 of 4
  1. One bar stands for ₹4,500.
  2. Cut it into 4 + 3 + 2 = 9 equal parts.
  3. One part is ₹4,500 ÷ 9 = ₹500.
  4. The shares are ₹2,000, ₹1,500 and ₹1,000.

The rule

The friends get ₹2,000, ₹1,500 and ₹1,000. The whole is the full amount, ₹4,500. It is cut into equal parts. Each term is a number of those parts. Together the terms make 4 + 3 + 2 = 9 parts. That total is the sum.

Rule: Add the terms. Divide the whole by that sum. Multiply each term by the answer.

₹1,0001 : 1 : 2 : 610₹100₹100, ₹100, ₹200, ₹600

The shares use every part, so they add back to the whole. 12 + 24 + 36 = 72.
