Proportional Reasoning-2

A slice is a share of the turn

Fifteen of forty voters picked cricket. How wide is that slice?

Circle for 40 voters.
Step 1 of 4
  1. Circle for 40 voters.
  2. Cricket: 15 of the 40.
  3. One voter is worth 9°.
  4. Cricket's slice: 9° × 15 = 135°.

The cricket slice is 135° wide. One member's share is the angle for one voter. Here it is 360° ÷ 40 = 9°.

Rule: A slice's angle = one member's share × the group's count.

So 15 voters take 15 wedges: 15 × 9° = 135°.

Kabaddi had 10 voters: 9° × 10 = 90°. Football had 8: 9° × 8 = 72°. "No game" had 7: 9° × 7 = 63°. Add the four: 135 + 90 + 72 + 63 = 360. The four groups hold all 40 voters. So the slices fill the circle.

Read each question. Tap the angle for that group.
