A magnet does not need to touch

A magnet sits under a table. A paperclip on top slides when the magnet moves.

The idea

A magnet does not need to touch a thing to pull it. Bring the magnet closer and the pull gets stronger. Move it away and the pull gets weaker.

The pull also passes through paper, glass, cloth and water. The magnet must stay close enough.

A magnet under the table. A clip on top.
Step 1 of 3
  1. A magnet under the table. A clip on top.
  2. The pull crosses the gap. Nothing touches.
  3. Paper, glass or cloth in between. It still pulls.
