Exploring Magnets

Start here

A magnet touches a nail. The nail sticks to the magnet. A wooden bead, a small ball with a hole, does not move.

A magnet pulls some things. Not all.

This is Chapter 4, Exploring Magnets, in your NCERT book.

What you will do

  • Test which things a magnet pulls.
  • Find the two poles, or ends, of a magnet.
  • Push and pull with two magnets.
  • Make a magnet, and see one lose its pull.
  • Use a compass to find north.
  • Keep magnets safe.

Try the small lab first in each lesson. The words come after.
