Data & Patterns I

Sorting data into groups

Eight friends name their favourite game. The answers are in a mixed pile.

Sorting makes the pile easy to read. Each group of answers is a bucket. In the lab, tap an answer to drop it into its bucket. Then find the bucket with the most answers.

8 mixed answers, all in one pile.
Step 1 of 4
  1. 8 mixed answers, all in one pile.
  2. Cricket bucket: 4 answers.
  3. Kabaddi bucket: 2 answers.
  4. Football bucket: 2 answers.

Grouping means putting similar answers together. Some books say classification.

Grouping puts each answer in one clear bucket.

Good buckets have a place for every answer. No answer fits two buckets.
