Track Zero: Getting Ready for Maths

Start here

Seven small skills come first. Your Class 6 maths book uses all of them.

What you will do

  • Counting — touch each thing once, and get the true count.
  • The number line — find the exact spot of a number.
  • Place value — see why the 5 in 52 means fifty.
  • Comparing — tell which number is bigger.
  • Zero — see the two jobs zero does.
  • Shapes — name a shape by counting its corners.
  • × and ÷ — count groups fast, and share fairly.

Each lesson has one small game. Play it first. Then read the short rule.

Your Class 6 book

These skills are used again in three chapters. They are Number Play, Prime Time and The Other Side of Zero.

Shapes appear again in Lines and Angles and Perimeter and Area.
