Materials Around Us

Choosing the right material

A window, a knife, a raincoat. Why is each one made of a different material?

The idea

A window must be clear. A knife must be hard. A raincoat must not soak up water. So each job needs a different material.

Property — what a material is like, such as hard or clear. The right material has the property the job needs.
