Measurement of Time and Motion

Something that repeats

A cooker whistles when the rice is ready. Can whistles work as a clock?

The idea

Whistles are a clock only if the time between them is equal.

Your day repeats: sunrise, noon, sunset. The Moon's shape repeats too. People counted repeats like these to make calendars.

A clock counts a repeat that has equal gaps. A gap is the time between two repeats.

Made-up gaps between whistles: 41 s, 27 s, 60 s, 33 s.
Step 1 of 4
  1. Made-up gaps between whistles: 41 s, 27 s, 60 s, 33 s.
  2. The longest gap is 60 s.
  3. The shortest gap is 27 s.
  4. 60 is more than twice 27. The gaps are not equal.
