The Wonderful World of Science

Ask a question you can check

Two questions. Why do plants lean toward the sun? Is mango the tastiest fruit? Only one can be tested.

A checkable question and an opinion question.
Step 1 of 4
  1. A checkable question and an opinion question.
  2. The checkable one has a test. A test can check it.
  3. The opinion one has no test. Nothing can check it.
  4. Checkable means you can test it.

Checkable question — a question you can test. You watch, measure or try it.

Example: does a plant lean more toward a bright window? Move the plant, watch it, and measure the lean.

"Is mango the tastiest fruit?" has no test. Two people can answer it differently. That is an opinion: what one person thinks or likes.
