Navigating, not fearing

You will meet biased results, odd forwards and long lists of suggestions. A forward is a message sent on to others. You do not need to fear them. You need a habit.

Two questions: does a mistake cost a lot? Can you check it?
Step 1 of 4
  1. Two questions: does a mistake cost a lot? Can you check it?
  2. Costs a lot: check it now, or ask a grown-up you trust.
  3. Costs little: take a quick look, or notice it and look around.
  4. An exam forward costs a lot and you can check it. Check it now.

The rule

Ask: does a mistake cost a lot? Can you check it?

The two answers put the situation in one of four corners. Each corner names a habit.

Four corners and their habits
Cost of a mistakeCan you check it?Habit
A lotYesCheck it now.
A lotNoAsk a grown-up you trust.
LittleYesTake a quick look.
LittleNoNotice it. Then look around on purpose.

A forward says the exam moved to tomorrow. A wrong forward makes you miss it. You can check the notice board. Check it now.

A message says a friend needs money now. You cannot reach the friend. A mistake costs a lot, and you cannot check it alone. Ask a grown-up you trust.

A post says your class won the rangoli prize. A mistake costs little, and you can check it. Take a quick look.

Set the two switches for each situation.
