Data Science, Vision and Language

Start here

A scan, a spoken question and a sales table all use AI. Do they use the same kind?

This track's four ideas, in order.

No. They are three kinds of AI work. A scan is a picture. A spoken question is language. A sales table is data.

This track is Data Science, Vision and Language. It uses training, datasets and the three kinds of AI work.

What you will learn

  • The data science loop. Collect, clean, train, then improve.
  • Data that fits the question. Pick the data a guess needs.
  • How a computer sees. The steps from a picture to an answer.
  • How a computer reads. The steps from a message to meaning.

Need a quick recap?

  • Three domains — pictures usually mean vision. Words usually mean NLP. Tables usually mean data science.
  • Datasets — records described by attributes, a kind of fact about each one.
  • Train, check, test — one pile of data, three parts.
