| Idea | What to remember |

| One agreed length | A standard unit is the same for everyone, everywhere. |
| Choosing a unit | Use the largest unit that still gives 1 or more. |
| Measuring well | Length = far-end reading − near-end reading. |
| Curved lengths | Lay a thread on the curve. Straighten it. Read it on a ruler. |
| Has it moved? | Compare its position with a reference point. |
| Kinds of motion | Name a motion by the shape of its path. |
