Digital Safety & Citizenship I

If something feels wrong

A message says you won a prize. It has a link. A link opens a web page when tapped. Something feels wrong.

A message feels wrong.
Step 1 of 4
  1. A message feels wrong.
  2. Tell a grown-up right away.
  3. Don't reply to it.
  4. Don't delete it. A grown-up may need to see it.

If something feels wrong, tell a grown-up.

  1. Tell a grown-up right away.
  2. Do not reply and do not click the link.
  3. Do not delete it. A grown-up may need to see it.

Clicking is risky because a link can open a trick page.

Fake messages that try to get your private facts are called phishing. A pop-up is a box that suddenly opens on your screen. Pop-ups that promise prizes or warn of viruses can be tricks too. A virus is a harmful program. You do not need to be sure it is fake.

Watch out!

Already clicked or replied? Still tell a grown-up. It is not too late.

Choose your steps. Order matters.
