Lesson 2 of 8
Check before you share
Show on a big screenA message says the school bus will not run on Monday. Should you pass it on? To pass it on is to send it to others.
Step 1 of 3
- You can check a message against what you know.
- You can check it against a source you trust.
- Ask how bad it is if the message is wrong. That sets how hard to look.
Not yet. First check the message, because it may be wrong.
The rule
Check a claim with what you know or a source you trust. The cost of being wrong decides how hard to check.
A trusted adult is a source you can ask. Also ask who sent the message.
The cost is how much harm a wrong message would do.
