The rule
Every part has a symbol. A drawing made of symbols is a circuit diagram.
A symbol is a mark that means one part.
| Mark | Stands for |
|---|---|
| Long line and short line | A cell. The long line is positive. |
| Two cells in a row | A battery |
| Circle with a cross inside | A lamp |
| Two dots, line lifted off one | A switch, open (OFF) |
| Two dots, line flat | A switch, closed (ON) |
| A plain straight line | A wire |
