Lesson 7 of 16
Cutting the route
Show on a big screenA lid goes on a pot. Which route does that cut?
Step 1 of 4
- An empty pot, with the lid beside it.
- The lid goes on. Covered.
- Water is poured in. The lid comes off.
- The pot ends up open. The step was undone.
A lid cuts the water route or the food route. A lid stops new germs entering. It works only while on.
The rule
An everyday step cuts a link in a route. The order of the steps matters. A later step can undo an earlier one.
| Step | Route it cuts |
|---|---|
| Boil the drinking water | Water |
| Cover the food and cook it well | Food |
| Wash hands with soap | Touch |
| Cover the mouth and nose when coughing | Air |
| Empty still water | Mosquitoes |
Nothing here is a real house. A real worry goes to a trusted adult or a doctor.
Read the steps in order. Is the route cut?
