Text size

A doctor studies a scan, a picture of the body's inside. A program marks one patch, a small area of the scan. Who decides what it means?

A scan is taken.
Step 1 of 4
  1. A scan is taken.
  2. A program marks one patch to look at.
  3. A doctor studies the scan and the mark.
  4. The doctor decides what to do.

The doctor decides what the mark means.

A doctor can speak notes aloud. A program can turn the speech into text. A person should check the text.

Some programs study scans and mark spots that look different from normal. The programs can also measure what they find. A doctor usually writes the final report on a scan.

A diagnosis is a doctor's finding of which illness a person has. Some wrist bands count heartbeats. If the beat looks uneven, a band can show a warning. Uneven means not steady. A warning is not a diagnosis. It does not say which illness.

AI can point things out to a doctor. The doctor decides what to do.
