Lesson 8 of 13

Who can use AI?

Show on a big screen

8 min

Text size

An AI helper is an app you ask for help. It can save time. But not every family can use one.

Ten made-up families. Each box shows the monthly money a family has for a helper. It also shows home internet.
Step 1 of 4
  1. Ten made-up families. Each box shows the monthly money a family has for a helper. It also shows home internet.
  2. A helper costs ₹200 a month. Only families with ₹200 or more can pay. That is 4.
  3. The helper also needs internet. One of the four has none. That leaves 3.
  4. So 3 of 10 families can use it. The other 7 are left out.

The rule

AI access is who can use AI at all. A gap opens when some people cannot.

  • AI access — whether a person can use AI at all.
  • Gap — a difference in who can use AI. Some people can. Others cannot.

A lower price lets more families use a helper.

What can block a person, and one way to help
What blocks a personOne way to help
A price that is too highA lower price, or a free version
No internet at homeA helper that works without it
A language it does not knowA helper that knows more languages
Nobody showed how to use itTeaching in school

The lab uses made-up families. Real families differ. The idea is the same.

Using AI well

Having a helper is not the same as using it well. A helper that gives homework answers can leave you with nothing learned.

Try each question yourself first. Ask a teacher or parent how to use a helper for school.

Watch out!

Being left out does not make a person less clever. The blocks are price, internet, language and teaching.

Slide the price. Switch the internet on or off.
